July 31: Independent Animal Rescue's 8th Annual Painted
Chair and More Auction
at the American Legion Hall in Chapel
Hill.  This year we have extraordinary quilt donations that we will
auction off in a silent auction.  Some of those magnificent quilts
can be seen on our website:  
animalrescue.net  There will be
additional quilts (and other wonderful items) available at the
auction as well.


August 6 - October 3:
"Life Through Quilts: Works by the
African-American Quilt Circle"
is a celebration of a rich
quilting tradition in Durham and the Triangle region of North
Carolina.  This is the first time that the AAQC will exhibit as a
group at the Durham Arts Council.  The exhibit will hang at the
DAC in the Allenton and Semans Galleries. This exhibit celebrates
the artistic expression of life as seen through the eyes of each quilt
creator.  Small Treasures, An Ordinary Day, The Music Room,
Crazy Spice, Stamped in our Memories, Guardian of
Generations,
Let’s Groove and Raising H.A.I. R. is just a
sampling of the titles of work presented.  The exhibit contains
nearly fifty quilts and provides an abundance of fascinating pieces
by twenty-one of the group’s members. The opening reception is
Friday, August 20, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and will include
performances by Chuck Davis and the African American Dance
Ensemble and storyteller Willa Brigham.

August 19 - 21: “Smokey Mountain Quilters Guild Quilt
Show”
Franklin, NC. Macon County Community Center

Sept 17 - 18: "Romance in the Air"
By the Carolina Longarm Association Featuring quilts ranging
from traditional bed quilts to modern wall quilts highlighting
longarm quilting.  Also featured in this year's show will be a
display of challenge blocks made by our association members.  
Each block is made from the same pattern, fabric and color and
will represent the quilting styles of each individual quilter.  Tickets
will be available for a beautiful raffle quilt "Romance Rhapsody".  
Vendors representing quilt shops in the surrounding area will be
there and show goers can browse and purchase fabrics, books,
and other quilting related supplies.  Box lunches will be available
for purchase from the church.  Door prizes will also be awarded
throughout the quilt show.  
The two day show runs at 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 pm. at New Hope
Presbyterian Church in Clemmons, North Carolina.
Admission will be $5.00.  There is plenty of free parking available.
