       Quilt Show 2008
Quilting- A Thread Runs Through
                          It
                   __________________________________________________________________

We did it again and we hosted our most successful show
ever! We received many comments on how beautiful the
quilts were. Our Silent Auction - "Side Dishes" raised over
$1300 for our two charities; The Urban Ministries of
Durham and the Animal Protection Society of Orange
County.

There were nearly 2000 guests who viewed over 300 quilts
made by our members. We would like to thank everyone
who contributed their time and talents to every aspect of
the show. And again we would extend a special thanks to
the American  Tobacco Historic District for their very
generous support and a superb venue.
These are a few pictures of the show for your enjoyment.

DOQ members designed,
constructed and quilted this
unique T shirt quilt for Jim
Goodmon, President and owner
of Capitol Broadcasting
Corporation (which owns the
American Tobacco Campus in
Durham).  The quilt was made
using logo wear from all of the
CBC companies and was
presented to Jim at the CBC
luncheon on December 10,
2008, in appreciation for all he
does for his employees and the
communities in which he does
business.

DOQ member Kathy Friedman
designed and pieced the top,
Suzan deSerres quilted it,
Barbara Berliner made the label,
Bev Metz did the binding and
Hope Brown did a tiny bit of
appliqué to make the quilt
complete.  Thanks to all who
worked on this wonderful project
for our hosts at American
Tobacco.
